The words “You are magic” are more than just words to me and my family. They represent miracles and hope and the story of our biggest blessing. 

** Trigger warning: high risk pregnancy and prenatal diagnosis**

We found out during our pregnancy with our baby girl, Hallie, that many aspects of her brain were very rare and complex. We immediately were followed by a high risk OBGYN, neonatologists, and neurosurgery. One of the most common responses we got to any of questions was “we don’t know”. Ours hearts broke over and over again when we were forced to imagine and plan for hard decisions and a life without our girl in it. We were told to prepare to have moments, hours, days, maybe weeks with Hallie and for many unknowns. What we didn’t prepare for was all the miracles and magic.

Our Hallie girl arrived 5 weeks early with her rare and special brain telling her heart and lungs what to do. She was in the NICU for 31 days. She has had 2 brain surgeries, one of them an emergency. She goes to countless specialist appointments a month, and weekly therapies. I’ve never been more inspired by someone before than I am of her. I’m in awe of her.

She is pure magic.

She is more smiley and more joyful than I knew a child could be. She is determined, resilient, sweet, strong, and silly. She is a miracle. She is a joy bomb. A breath of fresh air.

We describe Hallie as magic and we say these words over her and about her and we wanted something like this to exist in the world. It began as a sketch on paper and I still cannot believe it is on clothing now! So this collection is for every little special warrior out there working so hard like Hallie. Every parent that cried many tears not knowing if they would ever get to experience this. For the parents that have slept on hospital floors. For every parent that has advocated for their child with special needs. And every person that needs to be reminded they are loved for being exactly who they are. Period. And most importantly it’s for our magic girl.
